Project Gates - Story

Hi everyone! In our last post, we announced our upcoming game "Project Gates." In this post, we wanted to share a bit more about the characters you will be encountering and the backstory of the game.

Akatsu at Wolf Den Concept Art

Players control a young wolf called "Akatsu." Akatsu is a fun, loving and adventurous wolf who is raised by his mother to be responsible (...or somewhat responsible). His mother raised him by herself since he was born. His father passed shortly after he was born while on a hunt. Akatsu has three close friends, Sano, Zoua, and Kairo. Sano is very kind and loves star gazing while Zoua is intelligent and composed. Kario is playful, headstrong and energetic. Each of them met Akatsu in some way or another, and grew up with each other and played frequently. One snowy night, there was a terrible blizzard. During the storm, Akatsu and his mother took shelter in their wolf den. Later in the night Akatsu's mother heard cries of a wolf and left the den, never to return. Without his mother's warmth and the brutal cold from the storm, Akatsu perished. Akatsu then awakes as a spirit and the game begins! While exploring, players are greeted by a mysterious wisp. It says that you need to get to the spirit world in order to reincarnate. Otherwise, you may disappear forever.

Wisp Concept Art

The wisp has a connection to Akatsu...can you guess who it is? We hope this sheds some light on Akatsu, our main character, and the game. We'll be sharing more updates soon. We're excited to share that we'll be finishing our prototype soon! We'd like to invite everyone to subscribe to our newsletter where we'll be sharing updates about Gates and its developments.

Have questions? Interact with us on social media! We'd love to talk. Thank you so much for your support and we're excited to hear what you think about the game!
